Smarter quizzes, smarter markets, smarter... sandwiches?

A packed June update.

June is off to a strong start, so we figured it was time to drop something equally strong: smarter tools, smarter events, and a quiz strategy from Jocko Fuel that’s the smartest we’ve seen yet.

(Alright, we’ll refrain from using the word “smart” again in this newsletter.)

Here’s what we’re covering this month:

  • An event with Nosto about profitability

  • New: Shopify Markets integration = instant localization

  • The “You vs You” quiz from Jocko Fuel

  • A neon networking event in Dublin you won’t want to miss

  • June 11: Live demo of our new HTML blocks feature

  • Team updates, metafield upgrades, and a very Brazilian sandwich

Let’s get into it 👇

WHATS NEW?

Shopify Markets Is Now Live in Octane AI

One of our most-requested features is officially here: Octane AI now integrates with Shopify Markets.

This unlocks location-based personalization without additional setup. Once enabled, your store’s quiz experience will automatically:

  • Detect the customer’s market based on their location

  • Show the correct pricing and currency

  • Display localized inventory based on availability

  • Provide market-specific product links

If a market can’t be detected, your default pricing will appear.

This is a simple but powerful way to create a smoother, more relevant experience for your international shoppers.

Metafields Are Here

You can now display Shopify metafields directly in your quiz results.

What are metafields? Think of them as extra product info you define—like fabric type, flavor profiles, or care instructions. With this update, you can:

  • Surface product-specific details dynamically in quiz results

  • Use both product and category metafields for better personalization

  • Help customers make informed decisions without leaving the quiz

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Live Demo: Customizing Quizzes with HTML Blocks

It’s show and tell time, baby! We’re launching a new series of live walkthroughs, starting with a demo of our new HTML block feature.

📆 Tuesday, June 11

Join us to learn how to:

  • Add custom content like GIFs, embedded video, and branded sections

  • Use HTML blocks to guide customers more effectively

  • Make your quiz feel more on-brand and dynamic

You’ll leave with examples and ideas you can implement immediately.

  • A panel of operators sharing what’s actually working—and what’s not

  • A seated dinner with panoramic views of the London skyline

FEATURED CASE STUDIES

The “You vs You” Quiz

We’ve seen hundreds of quizzes, but this one stood out to us.

Jocko Fuel recently ran a campaign called, “You vs You.” The purpose was to help shoppers fight against themselves when it comes to physical health and activity. To accompany this campaign, they launched a quiz.

The “You vs You” quiz didn’t rely on multiple choice. It asked open-ended questions that helped customers reflect on their personal goals, and included short videos to guide them through each stage.

Here’s what made it different:

  • Customers typed their own answers, building a plan in their own words

  • A follow-up email sent their written plan back to them for accountability

  • Product recommendations were included—but subtly, as a natural next step

The result: a high-engagement experience that felt more like coaching than selling. While the campaign has ended, you can still visit the landing page and try the quiz.

OUR CULTURE

Sandwiches, Code, and Connection

Last week, our team stepped away from the screen to build something different—a Brazilian sandwich.

Led by engineer (and culinary guide) Gustavo Leme, we held a remote team event where each of us followed along live to craft the perfect layered creation. Between debates over sauce and votes for the best sandwich, we were reminded of the value of connection outside of code.

Remote may be our default—but collaboration is still our core.

That’s it for June!

If you want help implementing any of the updates above—from Shopify Markets to metafields or building your next high-performing quiz—our team’s here to support.

You can find new tutorials and feature how-tos on our Help Center.

Until next time!
